(Kaieteur News) – A 20-year-old miner who had been wanted by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) since July 2025 in connection with two separate murder investigations was arrested on Monday at 14 Mile, Issano Landing, Region Seven.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, police identified the suspect as Travis Brewster, also known as “Turpin,” of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden. He was arrested around 15:35 hrs. On July 21, 2025, police issued a wanted bulletin for Brewster in relation to the murder of 30-year-old taxi driver Ron Clarke, of William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, and 76 Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden. The incident occurred on July 17, 2025, at Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden.
More recently, another wanted bulletin was issued for Brewster in connection with the alleged murder of Emanuel Williams, also known as “Chiny,” a gold miner of Five Miles Scheme, Bartica. Brewster is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Police also released details surrounding the Bartica stabbing incident, which occurred on January 23, 2026, around 23:30 hrs and claimed the life of Williams. Investigations revealed that Williams was at a bar when he became involved in an altercation with another male (allegedly Brewster), during which he was stabbed in the chest.
A post-mortem examination determined that Williams died from perforation of the lung and heart due to a stab wound to the chest. His body was subsequently handed over to relatives for burial.
Meanwhile, in relation to the murder of Ron Clarke, Kaieteur News had reported in July 2025 that Clarke was found dead in a drain at Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, Region Ten, at around 19:15 hrs on July 17. Reports stated that a teenage construction worker was walking along the street when he observed Clarke motionless in the drain. He alerted nearby residents, who removed Clarke and placed him into a passing vehicle. Clarke was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where doctors pronounced him dead.
An examination of the body revealed multiple gunshot wounds, including five to the right arm, two to the groin, one to the right hip, and six to the right thigh. A warhead was also reportedly found lodged in his underwear. Police who visited the scene observed a pair of bloodstained black-and-white Adidas slippers and several 9mm spent shells on the southern side of the street where Clarke was found. Investigations into both murders are ongoing.
