Parika miner charged with possession of narcotics
(Kaieteur News) – A 49-year-old gold miner of Parika, East Bank Essequibo was on Monday charged in connection with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused Oscar Cornelius appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court where the charge, which was laid under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10, was read to him.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted $80,000 bail.
The matter has been adjourned to March 23, 2026.
