De Panel ask he: Question One: “When Guyana get Independence?”
De man seh, “Well boss, de struggle start long time, but it finally work out in 1966.”
Panel nodding head, looking impressed.
Question Two: “Who play important role in de Independence struggle?”
De man seh, “Plenty people contribute. If me call one name alone, it wouldn’t be fair to de rest.”
De Panel start whispering among demself.
Question Three: “You think corruption is one big problem in Guyana?”
De man seh, “A committee looking into dat right now. When de report come out, den I could answer proper.”
De Panel seh, “Very wise,” and tell de man wait outside — but don’t tell nobody de questions.
When de man step out of de interview room, another Guyanese who bin waiting fuh interview for the same job ask him, “Bai, wah dem ask you inside?”
De man seh, “Me promise not to tell de questions… but me could tell you de answers.”
De next man memorise everything and walk inside bold-bald.
De Panel start:
Question One: “When you born?”
De man seh, “De struggle start long time, but it finally work out in 1966.”
De Panel look at one another.
Question Two: “Wah yuh father name?”
De man seh, “Plenty people contribute. If me call one name alone, it wouldn’t be fair to de rest.”
De Panel start to sweat.
Question Three: “Man, you mad or wah?”
De man seh cool-cool, “A committee looking into dat. When de report come out, den I could answer proper.”
