Guyana Lady Jags up for the task as CONCACAF Women’s U17 Qualifiers looms
(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has confirmed a 21-member Guyana Lady Jags Under-17 squad as preparations intensify on Tuesday, ahead of the 2026 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Qualifiers, which is slated to kick off on Saturday, January 24.
The young prospects reported for duty Tuesday last at the National Training Centre, launching a focused preparation phase ahead of their opening group match this weekend. The session forms part of the GFF’s broader initiative to strengthen girls’ football nationwide, with emphasis on technical development, discipline, and the overall confidence of the Women’s team.

Guyana’s Lady Jags defensive attack looked in good nick on Tuesday at GFF hosted clinical Training session ahead of 2026 CONCACAF Qualifiers.
Following a high-intensity training session, the final squad was confirmed. The roster includes goalkeepers Alexis Mars, Sara Ernest and Jasmine Solomon-Ross. The defensive unit features right back Aliyah John; center backs Ella Yhip, Avri Pasvolsky, Caraleena Elliston and Laila Ross; and left backs Lily Biffin, Kuleni Springer and Laili So.
In midfield, the Lady Jags will rely on Sydney Glean, Arrianna Chin, Kamora Edwards, Carissa Lombardi, Ayah Stewart and Ellie Biffin. The attacking options include center forwards Tanya De Vair and Alexaudria Charles, supported on the wings by Anaya Joseph (left) and Eleanna Isaacs (right).
Head Coach Delon Williams will lead the technical bench, assisted by Gavin Fredricks, with Nichola Argyle serving as mentor coach and Danitza Indacochea assigned as goalkeeping coach.
GFF Technical Director Bryan Joseph expressed satisfaction with the early sessions, noting, “Training went well. The girls were able to get in some intensity work, focusing on strength and technicality.” He added that the federation remains firmly focused on ensuring the team is fully prepared for their CONCACAF campaign.

The Lady Jags will compete in Group D of Round One, alongside Honduras, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Aruba. Guyana is scheduled to open its campaign against Jamaica on Sunday at 3:00 pm, before facing Aruba on Thursday, January 29.
The 2026 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Qualifiers mark the second edition of the competition under the current two-round format, introduced in 2025. At the conclusion of the opening rounds, the six group winners and the two best second-place teams will advance to the Final Round.
As the countdown continues, the GFF reiterated its belief that investing in girls’ football is an investment in stronger communities, families and a stronger Guyana, reaffirming its commitment to building clear pathways for female athletes through the national system.
