(Kaieteur News) – A man was shot dead execution style in Bare Root, East Coast Demerara Sunday night.
Dead is Orlando Chichester. Kaieteur News understands that Chichester also called Biggs was on his motorcycle riding when he came under attack.
The gunman pumped several shots into him before fleeing the scene. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were summoned to the scene where Chichester was pronounced dead by a doctor. Police are investigating the incident.
Murders in 2025 increased by 11.10%, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said. One hundred and seventeen murders were recorded in 2024 while 130 were recorded in 2025. There have been several execution-style killings in recent weeks.
On December Late last year, Linden businessman Amar Jones was gunned down at his home hours after another man from neighbouring Bamia was killed in similar fashion. Jones, according to reports was executed by two masked gunmen.
At Bamia poultry farmer, Dion Ramdyhan was shot dead in his home. Ramdyhan 47 was a bus driver and poultry farmer. In a statement police said the murder occurred around 02:30hrs. Initial enquiries revealed that Ramdyhan was in a small zinc-house when loud explosions were reportedly heard. He was later found motionless the house. Reports reaching this newspaper are that another poultry farmer Ernest Hall was with Ramdyhan at the time of the shooting. Both men were in the house when Hall was awakened around 02:30hrs by the loud explosions and heard Ramdyhan screaming for help, while groaning before he died. Hall reportedly alerted neighbours who summoned the police. Ramdyhan suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators collected from the scene several spent shells.
