The ICJ process must continue
Dear Editor,
With the announced capture of Nicolas Maduro Guyana must not drop its guard. Venezuelans have been taught that Essequibo is theirs and we must continue to safeguard against any hostility from a new administration in Venezuela.
The ICJ process must continue, and the resulting verdict respected. The parliamentary committee that addresses national security issues must be urgently convened and a clear plan of action communicated to the public.
Our approach must remain the same and we must continue to ensure that our allies, specifically the U.S., China and the UK, are aligned on how we address our national security. We must insist that the military buildup along our western border be diminished and that all Venezuelans within our country be provided assistance as they venture to return back to their own country.
