(Kaieteur News) – Kayla King, Miss Cosmo Guyana, stunned global audiences as she represented Guyana at Miss Cosmo 2025 in Vietnam. Kayla secured a Top 17 placement in the National Costume/Carnival segment in Vietnam, distinguishing herself from among 73 contestants from around the world and showcasing Guyanese creativity, heritage, and excellence on a global stage. This feat was achieved under the directorship of Ms. Teri Brown-Walker and marks the second time that Guyana has participated in the international pageant.
On December 17th, Kayla participated in the Jury Session, which featured a swimsuit and an evening gown segment. Kayla’s evening gown was graciously sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry & Commerce of Guyana, and this powerful act signals a commitment to ensuring that Guyana is represented well on the world stage. Although Kayla didn’t place at the final competition on December 20th, 2025, the Miss Cosmo Guyana won the support of Guyanese at home and abroad.
Kayla King is a model, vocalist, creative, entrepreneur, and psychology student. She is also open about her autism diagnosis and uses her platform to advocate for neurodiversity, inclusion, and representation. Having participated in and secured her crown during the local staging of the pageant in August 2025, her participation in Miss Cosmo challenges traditional narratives within international pageantry and highlights the importance of visibility for neurodivergent individuals, particularly young people in Guyana and the Caribbean.
National Visibility and Cultural Diplomacy: Kayla’s participation strengthens Guyana’s international visibility and soft power. Pageantry at this level serves as cultural diplomacy, presenting Guyana’s identity, creativity, and tourism potential to a global audience.
Representation and Neurodiversity Advocacy: As an autistic woman competing internationally, Kayla’s visibility helps reduce stigma and promotes inclusive opportunities, reinforcing that neurodivergent individuals belong in leadership and public-facing spaces.
Showcasing Guyanese Culture: Moreover, her Top 17 placement in the National Costume/Carnival segment, where her costume featured Guyana’s national animal- the Jaguar, highlights Guyana’s rich artistic traditions, the importance of its national symbols as a unifying force and reinforces culture as a powerful tool for national pride and global engagement.
Kayla said, “Representing Guyana on the Miss Cosmo stage is an honour I carry with pride. Being autistic is part of who I am — it shapes my creativity, focus, and resilience. I hope my journey reminds young people in Guyana that they belong in every space, including global ones.”
She noted that “With courage and purpose, Kayla King steps onto the Cosmo stage. Destiny meets preparation, and her legacy begins. Miss Cosmo Guyana: she is impactful, unstoppable, and unforgettable.”
Miss Cosmo is an international beauty and cultural pageant hosted annually in Vietnam. The competition features multiple segments, including fashion showcases, swimwear, national costume presentations, jury evaluations, and a grand finale, emphasising confidence, cultural identity, and global unity.
Sincere appreciation is extended to all sponsors of Miss Cosmo Guyana, Lesters Enterprise, Quinton Pearson of House of Pearson, Randy Madray, Nguyen Duy Hau, Jayden Truong, Nhà Mốt 9192, and the Ministry of Tourism, Industry & Commerce of Guyana.
