DCC executives congratulate Ashmead Nedd
Kaieteur Sports – The executives and members of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) is extending congratulations to national left arm spinner and clubmate Ashmead Nedd on his nomination for sportsman of the year 2024.
Statistician Charwayne Walker informed that, “The young budding spinner had a sensational regional 2024 first class season capturing 33 wickets. Young Nedd narrowly lost out to national footballer Omari Glasgow, who was voted Guyana’s Sportsman of the year 2024.”

The son of former Guyana off spinner and present assistant national Coach Gavin Nedd, Ashmead just missed out in joining his Demerara Cricket Club predecessors who had the distinct honour of being selected Guyana’s Sportsman of the year. First from the house of legends to achieve that feat was Lance Gibbs, who was voted Sportsman of the year in 1961, Sir Clive Lloyd in 1966, Roy Fredericks in 1967, Sir Clive Lloyd in 1968, Sir Clive Lloyd in 1974, Sir Clive Lloyd in 1981, Roger Harper in 1982, Sir Clive Lloyd in 1983, Sir Clive Lloyd again in 1984 and Roger Harper in 1987.
The executives and members wish Ashmead all the best in 2026.
