Kaieteur Sports – The athletics community in Guyana is mourning the passing of five-time national triple jump champion, Domon Williams, a standout athlete whose talent and dedication left an enduring mark on the sport.
According to sources, Williams passed away following a brief period of illness. Based in Jamaica in recent years, he competed at several of the island’s premier track and field meets, earning commendable success and further cementing his regional reputation.
Widely regarded as Guyana’s best triple jumper, Williams dominated the event locally, maintaining an unbeaten streak at the National Championships. His personal best of 16.44m in the triple jump stood as a testament to his exceptional ability.
Williams last represented Guyana at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, where he finished sixth.
His passing leaves a significant void in Guyana’s athletics fraternity, and he will be remembered not only for his achievements, but also for the inspiration he provided to fellow athletes and aspiring jumpers across the country.
