(Kaieteur News) – Be a man, Bharrat Jagdeo. Earn the mister due to a man believed to be of substance, one that commands regard from civil, principled Guyanese. Acclaim from the zoo has zero value. Be a man, Mr. General Secretary. Don’t send proxies, puppets. Unmanly, that is. Stand and fight own battles, represent self.
Want a piece of me? Come get it. But know this one thing: come armed with truth, and not the usual Jagdeo circling and pussyfooting and tiptoeing around the heart of serious national issues. It is unmanly to do otherwise. Like deflecting and abandoning former bosom pals. Pals who were sweetly enriching and nice to the PPP and its leadership for donkey years.
The record is of before 2020, before 2015, before gold smuggling first edged into the radar. Remember the Curacao gold boat, Dr. Jagdeo. Recall who was in charge when 476 pounds of gold alleged to have come from Guyana ran into trouble over there. Guyanese must remember also recall how the trail to who owned that gold smuggling shipment ran cold before the first dawn could break. Somebody knew somebody very, very high up for that almost 500 pounds of smuggled gold cargo to disappear from government interest, from Guyana Police probing. Genuine and deep probing, regardless where the smoking gun led. Who was in charge, was it not the PPP of Jagdeo then?
This is what the PPP as a party and government, owns lock, stock and barrel. The leadership had many long years and many relationships with the gold dealer community. But now what was owned by the PPP is pretended not to have been known by its leaders. Not that intimately. Not that lucratively. C’mon! no Guyanese is that stupid to believe such gibberish. Especially when the relationships continue. Whoever thinks that the Yankees don’t know that is the biggest dummy in Guyana.
Trying the old bullying way, Dr. Jagdeo, is not going to work this time, not with this citizen. There are those who can be bought (and have been) to keep them toothless and tame; to turn them into malevolent fiends against their fellow citizens. Pay some men a dollar in Guyana, and they would slander god. Then there are a few Guyanese, who spit on what others run after, and add this lyrical twist for emphasis: take it and stuff it in that part of the anatomy where the riches are stored.
It is fine to be a World Wrestling figure, an entertainer on a weekly basis. But after a time, the weekly Thursday afternoon show becomes stale, reduces to rancidness. Reduced to the barrenness of a gathering place for PPP insecure, who don’t care what they get, as long as they get their cheap thrills in the bawdiest form. They love to watch a paranoid Jagdeo put on his best Mike Tyson face, tryout his snarl. Cheap show and cheap shots draw a crowd; like dogfighting and cockfighting. The poor dogs and cocks do the hard work, while the spectators have an opportunity to take their minds off the real world.
Explain this one for the enlightenment of the Guyanese public (and the American diplomatic contingent) Dr. Bharrat. What could go in a new head of state’s mind that he dismissed State transportation resources for his first inaugural, that he preferred being driven to that auspicious State moment in a bullet-proof vehicle provided by his close friends?
Is it Dr, Jagdeo, that that relationship between PPP leaders and the owners of that bullet-proof machine only began in August 2020? How could there be any such relationship with any member of the Guyana gold trading community, when the FBI had warned Guyana Governments to take note of its interest in that very same community? I submit to my fellow citizens, most of all Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, that the PPP Govt’s intimate and lucrative relationships with the gold trading community goes back to the beginning of the millennium, and before. Deflect that Dr. Jagdeo. Disown that Mr. Vice President. Convince the Americans, Dr. Jagdeo.
There’s a time for Thursday afternoon brawls, comedies, World Wrestling-type farces. There is a time for reality to takeover and for the fullness of facts relative to the powerful relationships that make things happen that can only come from tight friendships. Is an expensive vehicle, expensively armored, loaned to a stranger?
Try giving an answer to that, Dr. General Secretary. The game is over, Skipper Jagdeo. Shift and drift as much as is desired, the microscope does not move from the PPP Govt and its leadership. Who knew these people, and who facilitated them, those are the questions? Enlighten, Jagdeo; not entertain with ducking and distancing.
