Glasses allowance
Dear Editor,
Governments do not decrease subsidies/ grants they usually increase same, but not in Guyana.
2023 my pair of spectacles cost $51,000. I took the relevant information from my Optician to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Protection. i.e.cost $51,000 less NIS $12,000 balance $39,000.The Ministry issued a cheque to my Optician for $24,000. I paid $15,000 in
- Spectacles cost $53,000. NIS $12,000, balance $41,000. Min. of Health voucher $15,000. I paid $26,000. Subsidy 2023 – $24,000; 2025–$ 15,000.
I am appealing to Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, to review the subsidy allowance or return same back to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Protection.
