Floyd Cumberbatch defends Draughts crown

Kaieteur Sports – The second leg of the National Draughts Association Annual championship was played last Sunday at Transport Sports Club Pavilion. Floyd Cumberbatch from Linden with 22 points won the Tournament and defended his title for the second consecutive year.

Aubrey Rowe, who is from the B division and had a chance to play with the A group, performed extremely well. Rowe ended with 20 points to secure the second place. Godfrey George and Steve Bacchus both ended with 15 points, but George defeated Bacchus in a tie breaker to take the nod.

Trophies and gifts were given to winners in both the B and A divisions by Puran Bro. Inc, M&M Snackette, A. Ahmad Hydraulics Bagotstown, Y2K Pawn Shop of Regent Road Bourda and Elias Gentle Attorney at Law.

The final leg in the championship is billed for November 16th 2025 at the same venue. Sponsors are reminded to verify their involvement in aiding the success of the event.

The game would be contested on the 100 square Boards. All players in this format of the game are asked to be at the venue at 10.30am sharp.
