Dear Editor,
Allow me to share my experience upon receiving an E-ticket from the GPF traffic department.
It is with great displeasure I decided to check the portal and saw a ticket was issued to me I proceeded to pay because obviously no one wants to have issues with their license. However, the portal did not state where the offense of speeding occurred so that was weird and I still paid because who has the time to go stand in court?
Lo and behold a printout was sent via the mail upon checking the printed ticket the photographed licensed plate does not match with my vehicle nor was that vehicle or any vehicle in my name in that location at any given time within the last month.
While the e-tickets are a good move, it is clear the linking of databases are not there between the GPF and the GRA and that there is no validation of license plates for vehicles!
This letter is to share an experience to let persons wait on the printed ticket before paying any fines and verify their number plates.
I hope the relevant authorities can fix this issue going forward because it is a system that can work for the greater good.
With Best Wishes,
Tanya Niamatali
