Oct 16, 2025 Letters
Dear Editor,ย
I write with reference to a letter published in your newspaper on October 15, 2025 and titled “The attack on Darren Wade”.
The writer, Khemraj Harryram, suggested that my Facebook post was an attack on Attorney-at-Law Darren Wade.ย Nowhere in that post was Mr. Wade identified as the subject.ย It was Mr. Wade who, by comments and a subsequent post, claimed that status.ย I don’t believe that I have ever confirmed his claim.
Second, I will ignore the personal attacks unleashed by Mr. Harryram and the irrelevant lecture on a “cab rank” rule.ย The situation is simple as it relates to Mr. Wade.ย He is a member of the PNCR and was a National Candidate of the APNU.ย Contemporaneously, he is an attorney representing the WIN party and/or the Mohameds.ย The APNU and the WIN party found themselves at loggerheads.ย It is my considered opinion that these facts placed Mr. Wade in a difficult position for which a recusal from public commentary and judgment was his only option.
The issue of ethical conduct has become foreign to Guyanese.ย Consequently, citizens venture into business relationships, offices, and commentary regardless of personal bias, financial interests, or personal relationships. One can only hope that, one day soon, we will come to understand the importance of ethics in the public space.
Sincerely,
Terrence Campbell
