Waia Green Escapes and Ecolodge has been officially launched, to offer visitors a chance to explore the natural beauty of Waia Creek and the nearby community of Santa Aratak, Region Three
(Kaieteur News) – A new tourism project– Waia Green Escapes and Ecolodge has been officially launched, to offer visitors a chance to explore the natural beauty of Waia Creek and the nearby community of Santa Aratak, Region Three. Waia Green Escapes and Ecolodge was launched on September 27, to mark World Tourism Day.
Currently, providing day tours with fishing, mountain biking, and kayaking activities, Waia Green Escapes will soon expand to include overnight accommodation.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Tourism, Susan Rodrigues, highlighted the opportunities tourism creates for communities. She noted that Waia Green Escapes is a locally driven initiative that enriches Guyana’s tourism product while providing authentic and memorable experiences.

The Chinese Association of Guyana, and Wild Adventures to develop and promote Hope Town, Guyana’s first Chinese settlement, as a tourism product.
“By developing experiences like this, outside of Georgetown, we highlight the unique stories, traditions, and landscapes that make each region of Guyana special,” the Minister said. Waia Green Escapes is managed by Keiran Samuels and Shabana Daniels of Wild Adventures.
Additionally, with great optimism, on World Tourism Day, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Chinese Association of Guyana, and Wild Adventures to develop and promote Hope Town, Guyana’s first Chinese settlement, as a tourism product. The MoA was signed by Stephen Su, President of the Chinese Association of Guyana, Shabana Daniels on behalf of Wild Adventures, and Director of GTA and Minister Rodrigues on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry & Commerce.
Hope Town is a site of profound historical and cultural significance. This partnership will help preserve its heritage while creating new tourism and community engagement opportunities. Located along Kamuni Creek, Hope Town also provides access to the nearby Santa Aratak villages, offering visitors a richer experience of the region’s history and culture.
