(Kaieteur News) – A 19-year-old police constable from Supenaam, Essequibo Coast, on Monday, was charged with the rape of a child under the age of 16.
The accused, Erwin Gentle, was arrested by a rank from the Regional Division 4B headquarters and was charged by a rank from the Division’s Gender-Based Violence Unit for the offence.
Gentle, who is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, appeared at the Friendship Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tameika Clarke, who read the charge. He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to October 27, 2025 for protection statements.
