Police said the wounding was committed on Geraldy Angel, by another Venezuelan, which occurred at about 00:30 hrs on Sunday.
The police release said Alianda Martin, a 20-year-old female Venezuelan of Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD, along with her husband, and other family members were drinking at a bar in the village, where an argument ensued between she and her husband, Osmel Figuera.
The release said several other male Venezuelan nationals began fighting. One of the men, who was allegedly armed with a cutlass, dealt one chop to the victim’s left thigh. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was admitted. His condition is regarded as stable.
Police said several persons were questioned, but no useful information was received due to the language barrier. Checks were also made for the suspect, but he was not seen in the area.
