De best government is a closed one
(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh if America government shut down, is not de end of de world. In fact, is de best thing since slice bread. Imagine billions of dollars saving just because some politician cyan agree pn how de Budget must spend. De government close down and suddenly people realise, “Eh-eh, life still going on. Sun still rise, moon still shine, de banks still open and KFC still selling fries.”
Dem boys seh is like when yuh wife stop talking to yuh for a few days. At first yuh frighten, then yuh realise how much peace and quiet yuh getting. Government does talk too much anyway. Every day dem issuing press release, giving order, taxing yuh leff, taxing yuh right. When dem shut down, is like de whole country get a holiday from nagging.
And leh we be real. Shut down does prove how important government is. People does only miss yuh when yuh gone. Is like a man who never clean de drain till flood water reach he bedroom. De day de government close, people gon bawl, “Who gon inspect de meat? Who gon stamp de passport? Who gon send me welfare cheque?” Suddenly everybody remember government is not just politicians quarreling pon TV, but also de lil clerk who push paper so society don’t grind to a halt.
Dem boys seh America could teach de world a ting. Guyana government should try it too. Shut down de ministries for a week and see wha happen. We gon save plenty money from fuel, air condition, and over-time claims. Plus, some a dem public servants gon finally realise de country ain’t depending pon dem.
So leh dem in Washington shut down. Is de cheapest diet America gon ever try. Less government, more savings, and a wake-up call fuh everybody. Sometimes yuh does only appreciate de light when de blackout come.
Dem boys seh, “Best government is de one that close shop and still making yuh miss it.”
