Kaieteur Sports – The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) will be bowling off their training session today at the Albion Community Centre Ground, following the release of their 32-man squad which will trim down significantly ahead of final selection for the for next month’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Inter-County 50-over tournament.
A number of high-profile names have been drafted, some of which have or still represent Guyana at the senior Regional levels or West Indies. Guyana Harpy Eagles players; Veerasammy Permaul, Kevin Sinclair, Junior Sinclair, Nial Smith, Sylus Tyndall, and Isai Thorne will be keen on cementing their spots.
Much younger talents likes Romario Ramdehol, Zeynul Ramsammy, Afraz Ali Budhoo, the Ramnauth Brothers Rampertab and Rampersaud, Adrian Sukwah, Micah Amsterdam and Clinton Pestano have also found favor as part of the 30-odd man team.
The BCB ran a few practice games recently, with mixed results by a number of key players, as the Ancient County prepares for some intense competition from the Essequibians and the Demerara boys.
In the final match, Sinclair’s XI made a modest 197-8 from 50 overs after Ricardo Ramdehol scored 42, Garfield Benjamin (29) and Glasgow (24). The Permaul-led XI reached 216-9 from their 50 overs thanks to the younger of the two Ramnauth brothers in Rampersaud, leading with 47.
Malcolm Mickle (44) and Sinclair (37) also found some form, as Kwesi Mickle (2-12), Glasgow (2-22), Leon Cecil (2-25) and Pestano (1-23) found their groove with the ball, ahead of today’s first training session which bowls off from 10:00h at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
