Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs on Monday announced that Toshao of Mashabo Village in Region Two, Henry Hendricks has passed away.
Extending condolences to the family of the late Toshao, the ministry stated that Hendricks was a remarkable man, a loving father, devoted grandfather, and a pillar of strength for his family and community.
The ministry said Toshao Hendricks served as a leader of the community, always guiding others with wisdom, kindness, and integrity. It said his life was a testament to selflessness, hard work, and putting others first.
“He dedicated his life to the church, his family, and the people around him. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he inspired everyone he met to live with courage, compassion, and love. His legacy will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him,” the ministry expressed.
Also expressing condolences was the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two, who noted that Toshao Hendricks was originally from the South Rupununi, Region Nine who settled in Mashabo Village some 40 years ago and served as an ordained elder of the Mashabo SDA Church.
“His enthusiasm for community development later led him to become the Toshao in June 2024. Toshao Hendricks has served his community and country well. May his services, lessons and memory continue to live on,” the RDC stated.
This publication understands that he died on Monday following a brief illness.
