Kaieteur News – A 27-year-old motorcyclist, on Saturday, was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car along the Charity New Road, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
The victim has been identified as Daniel Gray, a resident of Somerset and Berks, Essequibo Coast.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 15:20hrs today and involved motorcycle #CP 9109 owned and driven by Alex Jaigopaul, 31, from the Essequibo Coast; motorcycle CP 1974, which was owned and driven by Gray, and motorcar #PAC 697, driven by Patrick Murray, a 24-year-old Pastor from Charity.
Police revealed that the car and the two motorcycles were all proceeding east on the northern driving lane with the car in front followed by both motorcycles.
Reports are that the two motorcyclists were riding side by side when it was alleged by Murray that he put on his vehicle right side indicator to turn south off the public road to enter a Chinese supermarket.
“As a result, the two motorcyclists collided with the right-side portion of the car, causing both of them to be flung in the air and landed on the southern parapet of the supermarket. Both motorcyclists received injuries about their bodies,” police said.
The injured men were all were taken to the Oscar Joseph Charity Cottage Hospital, for treatment. Police shared that Jaigopaul was admitted for multiple fractures to his left foot and Murray for injuries to his face. They were both transferred to the Lima Regional Hospital for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, Gray was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Investigations are ongoing.
