Kaieteur News – A 23-year-old construction worker of Lot 99 Block XXX Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Monday remanded to prison after he was charged with the offence of simple larceny.
Making his first court appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Clive Nurse was Saydesh Dass called ‘Alex’.
According to information provided by the Guyana Police Force, Dass was arrested on September 4, 2025 by a rank from the Enmore Police Station and charged on September 7, 2025 with the offence.
He is accused of committing the offence on Balram Manickram, a 31-year-old Civil Contractor from Mon Repos, ECD, between August 31, 2025 and September 1, 2025 at Mon Repos. The police informed that he stole one cement mixer (Ransom) valued at $423,000, one Generator set valued at $85,000, and a submersible water pump with flex hose valued at $35,000. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him. Police further stated that bail was denied, and he was remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned to October 13, 2025.
