Dear Editor,
Freddie Kissoon, in commentary captioned, “Election 2025: My Predictions” (Aug 28), asserted or insinuated that I (Vishnu Bisram) published a missive in KN (Aug 27) under what he characterized “jumbie” name “Khemraj Harryram”. The supposed poll published findings in said letter that there would be a minority government led by the incumbent PPP.
I do not know Khemraj Harryram and whether the person exists or is a pseudonym used by a writer. I do not know if Harryram conducted a poll and or whether any U.G. students were involved in interviewing respondents. Harryram claimed a poll was conducted. I presumed it was carried out. I support the conduct and publication of polls as I penned in several earlier missives. I was in no position to endorse Harryram’s findings and never attempted to do so. Any such reading or interpretation of my letter was false and misleading. I endorsed Harryram’s right to conduct poll and his writings if not malicious; that’s all and not the findings as published in KN under opinion letter section.
I never used pseudonyms in my countless writings (thousands). I never conducted or published polls under any pseudonym. And I did not publish any findings of a poll supposedly conducted by and published under the name ‘Khemraj Harryram’. Any claims from Kissoon and others to the contrary are maliciously false and libelous and are being treated accordingly by a law firm. I also never asserted or insinuated that the PPP will win the 2025 elections with a minority government (parliament) and any such claim is also false, untrue, and libelous. And I was never involved in any push polling or publication of contrived numbers relating to the elections. I did not publicly support or oppose any party.
Mr. Kissoon also asserted that I did not conduct any polls, and that I was engaged in “jumbie polling”, asserting fraud. There are many individuals who were involved in interviewing respondents (on my polling under the NACTA acronym) and a few who accompanied me in ‘the course of polling or interviewing’ (field work), all willing and prepared to give testimony that polls were conducted; respondents were interviewed. A Senior Counsel is sending out ‘a cease-and-desist letter’ and seeking restitution for damages to my professional character as maliciously penned by Kissoon and others.
I conducted several polls that were published unequivocally stating the PPP would win the 2025 elections. I also did private unpublished polls, as requested by political interests who were provided the pre-election findings that were similar to those obtained from the actual election results; the deviation was a fraction of a percent.
I was with a group (TRPI) of professionals trained in America that initiated polling in Guyana some forty years ago. The group was founded by Dr. Baytoram Ramharack, Ravi Dev, among others and that conducted polls for the 1992 elections. Mr. Kissoon questioned and labeled the findings of those polls (as published in SN) as fraudulent because he said he has not consulted for them and has maintained that position as penned in his unsubstantiated rantings.
I conducted polls for every election going back to 1992 in Guyana and many elections in Caribbean nations as well as other countries. I was never involved in ‘jumbie polling’; I do not know what is jumbie poll. Those who assert or engage in libel and defamation must prove in a court of law and make restitution for reputation damages.
I support free press, but one must engage in truths and not reckless, harmful commentaries. Mr. Kissoon’s writings are scandalous and defamatory with many not worthy of press because of personal attacks that lead to reputational harm. As a person with some fifty years in the media, most of Kissoon’s writings do not belong in a media.
As I stated before, and repeat now, I fully support and endorse the right of anyone (Harryram, UG students, Kissoon, Randy Persaud, media houses, etc.) to conduct surveys and to publish them.
Kissoon and others are urged to cease and desist from making any and all untruths and defamatory statements against me or anyone else on polling or on any other matters.
Mr. Kissoon and others leave me no other alternative but to pursue all available legal remedies, including but not limited to filing a motion for damages including all legal fees (court costs and lawyers’ fees). Kissoon’s writings are damaging to my personal relationships and professional career. I have substantial evidence to support my claims. Kissoon and others must retract their comments, tender an apology, and agree to pay damages (amount to be determined by the legal team and in court) to charities (that I will provide).
Yours truly,
Dr. Vishnu Bisram (PhD)

Sometimes, many times, I read letters to this newspaper, by Vishnu Bisram,
other times, by Dr. Vishnu Bisram. Both are signed as such.
Now, I wonder if Bisram is selectively signing his name as: Vishnu Bisram
and Dr. Vishnu Bisram.
I also wonder if he knows who he really is when signing, adding ” Dr” and
leaving out “Dr”, depending on the subject written about ?
