Education Ministry seeking contractors to construct new North Georgetown Secondary School
Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Education is seeking contractors to build a new North Georgetown Secondary School. Invitation for bids (IFB) are to open on September 23 at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office.
The North Georgetown Secondary School is located on Woolford Avenue.
Several new schools have been built while existing schools were reconstructed across the country to address overcrowding and other issues.
Kaieteur News understands that there are currently 42 secondary schools under construction across the country. The Education Ministry said that “the construction of secondary schools is part of a policy to achieve universal access to secondary education across the nation, ensuring that every student is able to complete their secondary school education in a safe, supportive environment.”
The ministry has committed to ensuring that students in every region of Guyana have access to the tools, resources, and trained educators needed to excel.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is also seeking bids for the rehabilitation of the roof to the Main Theory Classes building at the Essequibo Technical Institute, and the supply, delivery, installation and testing of network and equipment for nursery schools in Georgetown.
