Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – Not a ballot cast, well except for the Disciplined Forces, and already the threats and rhetoric are ramped up, particularly from two camps.
When democracy was under siege for more than a year following the successful NCM culminating in the five months limbo, no threats or bad behaviour talk were peddled.
The then opposition reined in its supporters to keep the peace and let the process work. Not so now.
The talk of not accepting declared results is bold, loud and has taken hold. This talk was being made before the pre-election statement came out, but is not captured by the observer mission.
With some parties clearly stating it will not accept the results are we heading for a recount or court filings and another delay as happened in 2020? Time will tell.
Regards,
Shamshun Mohamed
