Dear Editor,
I write to commend KN for its fair reporting on the elections, providing coverage of newsworthy events of all the parties. It was expected that the larger parties would get greater coverage as opposed to the smaller parties.
The paper also featured commentaries in favor of and or critical of the parties. Supporters are allowed to praise their parties and critique or attack others. Many individuals queried about the outcome and my polling. It is not an easy election to predict support as in previous elections. Attendance at rallies is not an accurate predictor of the outcome and can be very misleading.
Ethnicity is not the only factor in this election in how people vote, and there is cross racial support for at least two parties. Some voters are focusing on issues and governance. Anyone who did or is doing tracking polling will get a fair or objective estimate of the support of the six parties. Three parties face uphill task to win seats.
One new party is very competitive. The amount of cross ethnic gains (from among Africans and Mixed) by the PPP is shocking. Analysts will be watching to see if it holds on Election Day. Indians have largely restricted their voting to two parties.
It is very clear which party has the advantage and which is in the lead based on traditional support and cross ethnic gains. Any objective analyst and party leadership knows which party will come out on top.
Thank you KN for objective reporting!
Yours truly,
Vishnu Bisram
