Kaieteur News – Social media commentator Mikhael Rodrigues known as the ‘Guyanese Critic’ and political activist Bryan ‘Max’ Mackintosh are scheduled to appear at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to several charges following the circulation of a live streamed video on Facebook showing Rodrigues assaulting Max.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Saturday said that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
“Police today contacted both Mikhail Rodrigues (Guyanese Critic) and Bryan Max, both of whom are cooperating with investigators. Rodrigues was placed on $50,000 bail and Max was placed on $25,000 bail. They are both slated to appear in court on Monday (August 25th, 2025).”
On Saturday, in the live stream from Max’s Facebook page, he was observed entering Rodrigues’ residence. In the 15-minute-long live stream he told his viewers, “Hey, we headed down by Critic. He said he has the money for Mr. Azruddin, so we going and collect the money, from Critic.”
The social media commentator spoke of several matters before arriving at Rodrigues’ home where he told his viewers that “Critic has agreed to pay the $50M he got for Azruddin Mohammed and Mr. Shell Mohammed, so I am going to go collect it. Shell said take it Bryan it’s your own, Azruddin said take it. It’s my money now Critic!”
During his journey, in the vicinity of Laluni Street, Queenstown, he turned the phone’s camera from his face to show his exact location. He parked his vehicle some distance away and walked to Rodrigues’ home.
“No weapons, just me and Mr. Critic,” he said.
Upon arriving at the front of Rodrigues home, he switched cameras again and bellowed, “Critic come downstairs,” and turning the camera back to himself. “…I don’t play; I don’t play. If I say I coming, I coming, you tell Critic I was here.”
As he approached the gate Rodrigues told him to enter and he responded, “No, I ain’t coming in your f***ing yard, ah want meh money outside… I ain’t coming in your property.” Amidst all this Rodrigues was heard insisting that Max enters the premises.
After further insistence he said, “I am coming in your f**ng yard, I ain’t frighten nothing you got in your yard.” Max then entered the building and headed straight to Rodrigues’ studio where he demanded the money.
Rodrigues then asked, “Mohamed send you for the money?” to which Max responded “yes”. Banter continued between the two and Max was heard saying that the money Rodrigues gave him was “jokey” money and not the correct amount owed. In response, Rodrigues told him, it is part of what is owed.
Rodrigues insisted that Max take the money he placed it on the table, but Max refused. However, Rodrigues then got up from his seat after repeatedly insisting that Max pick up the money. Max demanded he return to his seat but instead was dealt several slaps about his face by the social media commentator. Max’s phone fell to the ground as Rodrigues continuously hit him saying, “You come in people f*ing place and playing yuh mother **.”
During the ordeal, Max was heard snoring loudly as a guest of Rodrigues questioned his presence at Rodrigues’ home.
As the snoring continued Rodrigues retrieved the phone and said, “Bryan Max stop playing games,” before the live feed ended abruptly.
Subsequently, photographs of Max’s bloodied face circulated on social media.
Meanwhile, Max in another live Facebook broadcast accused Rodrigues of hitting him to his head with a gun.
“I get a couple of stitches, three in and three out…and that’s when he …that’s when he pull out a gun from his waist when he when I was on the ground and my foot slip, and take advantage of me then. So he pull out a gun lash me. That’s when he busted it, because he can’t bust it with in his hands,” the injured man told his followers.

What is blaring from the reporters account is the total omissions of the disparaging remarks by Bryan Max to the host ( critic) guest ( Mr. Rodgers).
