Security guard fined $200,000 for discharging a loaded firearm

Kaieteur News – A 36-year-old security guard, on Wednesday, was fined $200,000 for discharging a loaded firearm within 100 yards of a public way.
Jesse Gibbs of Diamond New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD), appeared before Magistrates Teriq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was arrested on August 17, 2025; the charge was filed under Section 153(1) of the Summary Jurisdiction Act, Chapter 8:02.
