Dear Editor,
I wish to offer my sincere congratulations to Dr. Arif Bulkan on his appointment as a judge to the Caribbean Court of Justice.
This is the same Dr. Bulkan who, I am told, couldn’t find a place among the recent appointees to our own Court of Appeal. We all know what is playing out here, but as people say, you can’t keep a good man down.
Dr. Arif Bulkan has been one of the brightest and most capable lawyers this country has produced for the past 30 years or so but he was not allowed to serve his country, not as DPP nor as a Court of Appeal judge. But he now sits atop the pile as a judge in the highest court in the region. Congratulations again to Dr. Bulkan and we look forward to some scholarly judgments which I am sure will be a treat to read.
Sincerely,
Sara Sammy
