Kaieteur News – De Pee Pee Pee boys always like fuh boast how dem got de crowd. Any lil rally, and dem quick fuh holler, “Look, look! De place full!” But dem boys seh, crowd don’t mean votes. If crowd did mean votes, then Sparrow woulda been President long time, ‘cause nobody never pull more people at a show than he.
In 2011, dem Pee Pee Pee do dem polling and find out late-late that de sugar belt in West Coast Berbice slipping away like sand through dem fingers. Dem send Big Boy down fuh patch it up. But de sugar workers tell he straight: “Boss, boat done gone over de falls.” Meaning dem done jump ship.
Now dem boys hearing de same tune playing again. De Pee Pee Pee do polling in Region 6, and despite Albion and New Amsterdam rallies having jam-packed crowds, de polls showing ground shaking under dem foot. Rallies full, but support empty. Like a jug of beer wid only froth on top—plenty show, but no substance.
So wah de Pee Pee Pee do? Dem line up some whistle-stop meetings. But dem boys seh is de same set ah faithful faces turning up. Same auntie who clap last week, same uncle who wave flag last month. Like dem hire crowd on a permanent contract.
De writing might be on de wall, but de Pee Pee Pee too busy painting over de cracks. Dem believe in illusion politics—big stage, loud music. But de people belly still empty, and de same promises from last election now sounding like recycled campaign jingles. Dem boys seh, is one thing when you fool people once, but when de polls start whispering de truth, yuh can’t hush dem up wid sound system and entertainment. Question now is—will Pee Pee Pee learn, or will de falls swallow dem boat again?
Talk half. Leff half.
