Dear Editor,
I don’t always agree with politicians but this one, I do. Editor, could we investigate, leader of the opposition Mr. Aubrey Norton’s proposal on the compulsory retirement age.
There are many employees, police officers, senior teachers, nurses and many other public servants who are at their best at age 50 to 60. I believe that they should not be allowed to resign unless it’s with their own consent.
Most of them will give valuable contributions at age 60 and then be paid their benefits for an extra five years. I am sure many of them will wish for that idea to materialize.
This is just food for thought!
Sincerely,
Frank De Abreu
