Corentyne man remanded for death of 8-year-old
8-year-old Sahil Naipaul
Kaieteur News – Twenty-two-year-old Ramsarran Samaroo who was arrested for the death of eight-year-old Sahil Naipaul was on Monday remanded.
Naipaul, of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, was killed last Tuesday in an accident along the Corentyne, Berbice road.
Samaroo, who hails from Lot 13 Grant 1805, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, appeared at the Whim Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Michelle Matthias who read the charges.
The accused was not required to plead to the causing death by dangerous driving charge, since it was filed indubitable. However, he entered a not guilty plea for failing to render assistance and failing to stop after the accident.
Magistrate Matthias denied Samaroo bail and the matters were adjourned to September 4, 2025.
It was reported that the lad was hit by a car at around 12:45h bearing registration number PAK 6598 which was driven by Samaroo.
