Kaieteur News – At least one person is confirmed dead following a boat accident on Friday afternoon on the Aruka River, North West District, Region One. Several others were reportedly injured.
Details were sketchy up to press time, but Kaieteur News learnt that the dead person has been identified as a male.
The circumstances surrounding the boat accident is unclear, but this publication is in receipt of a photo of a partially damaged wooden boat with blood stains.
Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced of another accident at “Barbina”, Mabaruma involving a bike. The rider was reportedly picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Mabaruma Hospital, where remains in a critical condition.
Kaieteur was told that preparations are being made to have him medevacked to the city.
