Kaieteur Sports – It was a brilliant opening practice game for the national U17 team as a number of stars and hopefuls got into some crucial match-form as their encampment continued ahead of the Regional Championships.
Batting first on Tuesday, Ramdehol’s XI posted 232 batting first led by skipper Richard Ramdehol’s classy 97.
Ram’s XI pacer Shane Prince bagged 3-24, while leg-spinner Navindra Sankar snared 4-58, as their team replied with 130 for 2 by the end of day one’s play.
Ram’s XI would go onto scoring a daunting 327 all out in 70.4 overs thanks to wicket-keeper and overnight batsman Lomar Seecharran, who resumed on 69, only to sadly miss out on a ton.
The in-form batsman hit 91 off 113 balls, with 17 fours and a 6. He shared a crucial 52-run stand with Dhanesh Persaud, who grafted 67.
Romario Ramdheol captured 4-26 with support from Gibran Yacoob 3-37.
Ramdheol declared on 222-4 batting a second time after a brilliant knock from all-rounder Shamar Apple who blasted 69 not out off 50 with 4 fours and as many sixes.
Adrian Hetmyer scored an important 58 in the process. Meanwhile, the players had their gym session yesterday at the R53 Gym as part of their ongoing encampment.
The players will have one final two-day practice game at the LBI Ground starting today.
