Robbery suspect shot dead by police
The firearm and ammunition that were recovered
Kaieteur News – A 26-year-old man suspected of robbing 38-year-old Chinese businessman Long Xing, of Mackenzie Linden, was allegedly shot dead on Monday evening by police.
Dead is Shamar Prince of Wall Street, Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
It was reported that the incident occurred at approximately 23:45 hrs.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, Prince, who lives with his girlfriend, 22-year-old Whitney Brazilio, is a tenant in the lower flat of a two-story concrete house facing south and located in a partly fenced yard.
“As the ranks called at the apartment, Whitney Brazilio opened the western door and spoke to the ranks. Shamar Prince, who was in the apartment at the time, opened the back door (north-western side) and discharged his firearm at one of the ranks, who was forced to take cover,” police said.

Prince then reportedly ran out of the apartment and continued discharging rounds at the police who took cover and returned fire in Prince’s direction. He then fell to the ground at the side of the yard lying on his back.
“The ranks approached Prince, who was lying on his back and clothed in a multi-colored shirt and black denim pants. One .38 revolver containing three .38 rounds and three .38 spent shells, and one box containing twenty-five (25) .38 rounds of ammunition were found next to Shamar Prince,” police added.
Additionally, a black shoulder bag was strapped around Prince’s shoulder containing one national ID card, one Blu cellphone, $1,040 cash, one knife and five grams of whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
Prince was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex by the officers, where he reportedly died while receiving treatment. Five circular wounds were seen on his body, one in the left of his head, three on the left upper shoulder and one in the right of his chest.
The .38 revolver, rounds, spent shells, and other articles found were sealed and lodged to be taken to the lab for examination. The body is at the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
