Guyanese ladies ease to 4-wicket win in low-scoring affair

Kaieteur Sports – Windwards suffered a horrific 4-wicket loss at the hands of Guyana in a low-scoring encounter, when the two sides did battle at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground yesterday.
Windwards were knocked over for a mere 72 all out inside 20 overs with opener Amiah Gilbert (14) and Devona Tyson (13*) the only double-digit scorers.
The Guyanese bowling was shared among the operators as Tiea Issacs bagged 4-15, while Danielle Manns (2-14) and seasoned spinner Trisha Hardat (2-17), chipping in with match-winning returns.
Crystal Durant played a good knock.
Crystal Durant (19) and Issacs, who returned to score 16* carried Guyana to 73-6 in 21.3 overs. Gilbert (1-11) alongside four of her mates, grabbed a wicket each but failed to stop the Guyanese from securing a much-needed win.
Saturday’s next round will see the Guyanese looking to keep their winning ways against Barbados from 10:00h at the National Cricket Center, Couva. (C. Ross)
