Kaieteur News – Shooting at unarmed civilians during a time of conflict must qualify as a war crime. Shooting at people who are not menacing, pose no apparent threat, in what is still called a war must be called for what it is, a war crime. What is happening to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Area by any definition, by any convention, represent nothing but war crimes, through and through.
It may be going too far, but it should be considered a war crime when those who claim to be civilizers are condoning what is going on in the Gaza. Who rain bombs from the skies on urgently needed food convoys making their dangerous way to aid stations, where the hungry and helpless line up hoping for a bowl of food? Who shoots at people, with automatic fire, waiting in line for any kind of relief that they can get? In both instances, the bombers and shooters, and those who let them loose, meets every description of that most gruesome of titles; war criminals.
What is going on without interruption in Gaza with the Palestinians being used as a shooting gallery, as if they serve as targets for practice, human targets? What can that be called, how should that be branded, other than those doing so are war criminals. When schools are blown up and children are killed, or their minds deliberately traumatized for the rest of their lives, then that is a war crime, every instance of it. When hospitals overloaded with the sick and wounded, the weak and invalided, are destroyed in a rain of steel and fire, then there is something very sick at work. We at this paper see a series of war crimes directed at Palestinians, and maybe even for the fun of it.
How can anyone in the civilized world, a world that is watching but largely hanging its head in shame (and with the ugly odor silence standing as a pall over the hypocrites), not see what we see, war crimes? Not call what has unfolded for what they are, as we have, which is war crimes? When there are war crimes, then there has to be war criminals. We do not mean only the soldiers on the ground, who have mostly transformed to mindless killing machines, small cogs in a much larger Israeli war machine. We mean those who arm them, then set them loose on the Palestinian civilian population, as though they (the soldiers) are hunting dogs, and the Palestinians are prey.
There must be some attaching of responsibility to the highest military levels of the Israeli Defense Force. Along the same lines, the Israeli political establishment should already have been bombarded worldwide with allegations of overseeing the commission of war crimes against the Palestinians. Leaders from the Western world may not recognize it as yet, but there had better be conditioning of the mind to achieve everything by overwhelming force of arms. Who is going to respect America and parts of Europe after what have occurred in the Gaza and in Iran? The world needs a peacemaker on an expedited basis, one that will also be well-regarded as an honest broker. Who is that person, and where is that country?
We think that America has yielded the high ground, reduced itself to the level of a crude and arrogant participant in a conflict that it was better advised to stay on the sidelines. The role of the US is to be a fair broker, not an apologist, or a coverup artist, for the war crimes of its Israeli allies.
Without a doubt, it is clear that the barbaric Israeli assaults on the Palestinians are not accidental developments, nor do they have mitigating circumstances. We say it without hesitation or fear: what is happening is deliberate, part of a systematic plan to remove every last Palestinians, deal or alive, from where they are, what was once their homes. What the German war machine did to the Jews about a hundred years ago, the Israelis are now doing to the Palestinians dying out like fleas before their assembly line cruelties.
The murderers are war criminals, and those who protect them, render themselves criminal, too.
