Kaieteur News – A drinking spree at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Sunday morning ended with two women injured and a 45-year-old Venezuelan man stabbed to death.
The dead man has been identified as Yosmar Caprio, a construction worker, while the women were identified as Yandris Natera, 34, a domestic worker and Belisbet, 47, both Venezuelan nationals as well.
Police said that it was Natera who stabbed Carpio to death when a fight broke out between them around 05:30hrs. Belisbeth was injured while trying to part them.
Natera and Carpio reportedly lived in the same yard at Tuschen, but in separate apartments.
They were reportedly drinking at the front of the yard when they reportedly had a misunderstanding.
Things took a deadly turn when Carpio armed himself with a piece of wood and Natera with two knives.
It is alleged that Carpio dealt Natera two lashes to the head with the wood. She retaliated by firing some stabs at him.
The stabs reportedly caught Carpio to the left of his abdomen.
It was at this point that Belisbet tried to part them but ended up being stabbed on her right hand.
“An alarm was raised and persons in the area rushed to their assistance and took Yosmar Carpio to the Leonora Cottage Hospital”, police said, adding that he was admitted in a critical condition but later succumbed while receiving treatment.
Police ranks visited the scene where they arrested Natera. She too was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital for treatment, but was later discharged and is in police custody.
Ranks were able to recover the suspected murder weapons and the piece of wood from the crime scene.
Investigations continue.
