Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – I was hesitant to highlight this matter in the hope that it would have been addressed in due course by the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB). Much praise has been ushered for the transition and transformation of the ECB in light of a prolonged period of intransigence and lack of accountability. With the assent of the Cricket’s Administration Bill in Parliament, all county boards’ constitutions were adopted for compliance.
It is in this context therefore, that I am referring to the Board’s constitution which states that “An Officer of the Board shall not be eligible to hold more than one post/office at any one time”. In the current case, a Vice President and Chairman of Selector is the same person; which are two executive positions. This issue was ventilated before after a similar scenario existed. I am surprised therefore, that no attempt was made to correct this executive blatancy, unless there is an attempt to undermine the constitution through secrecy with corroboration among the executives.
Regards,
Elroy Stephney
