Pensioner found dead in Buxton

Kaieteur News – A 66-year-old pensioner was found motionless in a trench, located on the western side of the Church of God Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is George Julian Harry of Lot 103 Church of God Road, Buxton, ECD.

According to a statement from the Police, the deceased suffered from ‘seizures’ and was a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation (GPHC).

Police were made aware of the discovery on Friday at approximately 07:45 hrs, after they received a 911 call. Harry was identified by his cousin, Arita Phillander.

“The body was discovered floating face-down in the trench, clad in a black T-shirt, navy-blue long pants, and barefoot, with a watch on his left wrist. The body was examined and no marks of violence were observed on the most exposed areas,” police said.

Harry was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician from Melanie Fire Station. His body was then taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, interviews were done with persons in the area and surveillance cameras were observed on a building opposite the scene. Police noted that statements are being obtained.
