Israel v. Iran

Kaieteur News – It may be premature to take the position that the escalating clashes between the Israelis and Iranians could spiral into the uncontrollable. But it could with the two blood enemies now locked in mortal aerial assaults targeting each other’s cities. We could be jumping out of the starting block too early in saying that the exchanges between the two nations could blow both of them apart. It must be remembered that both are reported to possess arsenals capable of delivering untold destruction.
This is where the Middle East is dangerously poised right now. It would be wise for the world to weigh how quickly the current boiling, but still low-level aerial skirmishing, could push either or both sides to the brink, and get out of hand before anyone can control it. There is enough reciprocal hatred to fuel to such a point. Both Tel Aviv and Teheran are on the wrong end of wave after wave of missiles. The longstanding animosities in that always volatile environment feed simmering fires. This is most likely to be tech war, close to the one waged by the US in Kuwait and, its earlier stages, in Iraq. The new language of war and its tools is incorporated in the assaults of drones. Whether drones or bunker-busting bombs or hypersonic missiles or the ever-hanging specter of nukes being deployed in what struggles under the euphemism of ‘conflict’, people are dying and tensions are rising dangerously.
In an all-out tech war, it is clear that the Israelis enjoy a considerable edge over the Iranians. A helpful hand from the US added to the Israeli superiority. Now the stealthy entry of the Chinese on the side of the Iranians could be just enough to make the tech battles a little more even one. China has sneaked in one plane under the radar at points, followed by two other secret flights in a similar manner. What were those planes carrying in their cargo holds? Armaments better than those of the Russians look like one possibility, and some sophisticated electronics could be the other. To date, whatever the Iranians have, it has left them flatfooted to the Israelis seemingly operating at will in the skies over Teheran and northwards of it. Just recently, the Chinese got an opportunity to test some of the weapons in its lineup in the Indo-Pakistan clashes. The Pakistanis apparently got the better of those encounters, thanks to its Chinese-made assets. It could be that some of that same high-tech stuffed was raced to Iran as part rescue mission, and also to send a message to the world, especially adversaries of that embattled country. Iran is not left to its own devices, but has a powerful friend in the Chinese; a powerful and willing one. Out of what may seem as small and well-contained military adventures by the Israelis and Americans suddenly takes on the appearance of an altogether different kettle of fish. Already, the expert advisers are talking about a new Cold War. To us, it doesn’t seem to be cold at all, but very hot when all that is going on is considered. It is how matters that start small could blow out of control.
Meanwhile, the position of the US about whose side it is on in this so-called ‘conflict’ couldn’t be clearer: it is all Israel, with even US strikes on Iran being recklessly mentioned. The hardline position of “unconditional surrender” once used by President Harry Truman is now back in vogue, as coming from President Donald Trump. That by itself is dangerous, since it doesn’t cool inflamed tension, and only makes matters worse. The response of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei was unyielding: “the battle begins”, we are ready to go down. In a flash, the world entered into very uncomfortable territory. One miscalculation, one misinterpretation, or one misjudgment is all that it takes, for this conflict to get totally out of hand, and spread into the unknown.
Known or unknown, it does not bode well for a watching world. Aside from oil prices and economic fallouts, allies will be dragged unwillingly to show their mettle. Cooler heads, steadier hands, are now at a premium. They are missing in action.
