Kaieteur News – The 16th edition of the ‘Guyana Where and What’ has been released. Publisher and editor of the tourism booklet, Gem Madhoo Nascimento said the pocket size tour guide booklet for 2025 has been updated to include more interesting places, tourism site and scenes. She said that the 134 page 16th edition of publication has been in circulation “for a short while now.”
According to Madhoo-Nascimento, the guide was first launched in 2007 for Cricket World Cup and through grit and determination has continued as an annual publication only missing one year, during COVID.
She explained that “The magazine was originally inspired by ‘Barbados in a nutshell’ but has gone beyond that providing historical and geographical information to its readers. It has proven to be very educational and is used in some schools as a reference guide.”
The publisher noted that Guyana where and what helps you with comprehensive listings of hotels, restaurants, tourist resorts, tour operators, sporting organizations, recreational spots, historical sites , calendar of events and a lot more it’s the only one of its kind in Guyana and can fit into your pocket or handbag for easy access copies can be obtained from Guyana tourism authority and tourism and hospitality association of Guyana.”
Madhoo-Nascimento noted too that “Every year we update the Guyana sections that feature hotels, restaurants, tour operators and so forth since there’s a host of new entities in Guyana It goes beyond.”
According to the ‘Guyana Where and When’ publisher between 15000 to 20,000 physical copies go in circulation annually. This is in addition to the online edition. We are hoping that we can go up 25000. It’s a delight for both Guyanese and visitors to have.
The free information booklet for tourists is funded by ads, hence Mrs Madhoo-Nascimento is hoping to team up a marketing firm to get more ads to take the circulation to 25,000 by next year.
In the meantime, Madhoo Nascimento expressed much appreciation to Ministry of Natural Resources, SBM, Soreidom, Medicare, Ansa Motors, NAPS, GBTI, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shanta’s, Kamboat, Aagman, Kings Hotel and Residences, Palace de Leon, Watooka Guest House , Woodlands, Civil Defence Commission, Dragon Tours and Umbrella Resort and Splashmins for the continued commitment of sponsors. The booklets are primarily available at Guyana Tourism Authority and Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana.
The flip version of booklet can be assessed online at www.guyanawhereanswhatonline.com. This year edition also has a QR Code on the cover for readers to scan.
