Kaieteur News- The motionless body of 48-year-old Richard Singh, a labourer, was found Monday morning on a parapet at Mission Road Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
According to police reports, around 07:00hrs on Monday, Singh’s sister Franella Emmanuel received a call from a family friend that her brother was seen lying motionless on the northern parapet of the Mission Road, just two corners from his residence.
Upon receiving the information, Emmanuel went to the location and observed the body of her brother, after which she went to the Highway Patrol Base and made a report.
Ranks, upon arrival at the location, observed the man’s motionless body which was lying face up on the northern parapet of Mission Road. The body was clad in a blue jersey and black short pants.
“The scene was processed by the police. The body was examined, but no marks of violence were seen,” the police revealed.
Reports are that Singh lives with his sister and according to her, she last saw him on Sunday around 10:00hrs, when he left the home informing her that he was going to buy a quarter bottle of rum and $200 cigarettes. “She also stated that it is a regular thing for him to be drunk and sleep on the road and passersby would normally have to wake him up and bring him home,” the police reported.
Further, the police noted that the area was checked for CCTV cameras, but none was seen.
Singh’s body was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where he was officially pronounced dead by a doctor. His body was then taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
