2 injured in Lima Sands Essequibo accident

Kaieteur News- Two men were injured during a motorcycle accident on Friday, along the Lima Sands Access Road, Essequibo Coast.

Injured are 24-year-old Denzel Ben, of Lot 17 Henrietta Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, and 36-year-old Timothy Jeffers, of Lot 38 Coffee Grove, Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast.

Reports are that the accident occurred at 05:30hrs.

According to a police report, the accident involved a black ‘XR’ unregistered motorcycle which is owned and driven by Ben, and a red 110 trip motorcycle with trade plate number J.S.P#1 which is owned and driven by Jeffers.

“Motorcycle trade plate# J.S.P#1 was proceeding in the southern direction at a fast rate of speed and the black XR motorcycle was proceeding in the opposite direction to which motorcycle# J.S.P#1, proceeding over a speed bump which is placed in the vicinity of the Lima Sands Primary School, lost control and collided head on with the black XR after which both motorcyclists fell onto the roadway where they received injuries about their bodies. It was observed that both motorcyclists at the time were not wearing any safety helmets,” police said.

Police said Ben was picked up in a conscious state, while Jeffers was picked up unconscious. They were both taken to Suddie Public Hospital where Ben was admitted for trauma to the head and laceration about his body. Meanwhile, Jeffers was treated for a fracture to the frontal region of his skull and laceration about his body. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical attention. The police noted that no documentations or driver’s licence were produced for the motorcyclists.
