Dear Editor,
The APNU, as it stands presently, will face a crushing defeat at the upcoming elections if it does not find the right presidential candidate. What is worse than the impending defeat is the post-elections collapse of the PNCR; one that it may never recover from.
When asked by two prominent Guyanese presently in the US about the role I intend to play in the fight to see the end of the PPP in just under 90 days, I said it is impossible for anyone to ask an artist to paint without a brush.
Azruddin Mohamed and Irfaan Ali have become the contenders to succeed at the presidential elections because the current visionless and uncaring PNCR will remain stubborn as it is thrown headlong into the pits of defeat.
Outside of the 2000 diehards in the PNCR, which are the executives, members and what is left of its supporters, the rest of Guyanese have no time with the present confabulation. Let me make it pellucid, there is none other than Dr. Terrence Campbell as presidential candidate, who at this late moment can swing the pendulum in the direction of certain victory for an opposition coalition.
None other than him can recapture the support of the Doggies, Fattas and the thousands of what the PPP calls scrapes. It is only Campbell who can successfully forge the unity needed in a divided opposition at this point. It is only Campbell who can bring the power and passion of an apostle Nigel Eliakim, the grassroots organising magic of Dr. Simona Broomes, the genius of Amanza Walton, the brilliance of Nigel Hughes and the energy and enthusiasm of every one of our MPs to the fold. It is only Campbell who can over time raise the campaign money that will match that of Mohamed and the PPP.
I will discontinue my fight against Jagdeo and the PPP if the opposition does not care about truly defeating the PPP. I will not continue to put my safety at risk in a fight we are setting ourselves up to deliberately lose. There can be no justice for Adriana if the PPP is not defeated in September. How can the artist paint the masterpiece without the right brush?
Sincerely,
Norman Browne
