Dear Editor,
Every time West Indies cricket administrators have to make important cricket decisions, you are left with the distinct impression that they were just released from an unsuccessful sojourn in a lunatic asylum. They always appear to be fully endowed with incoherent, vacuous ramblings in their attempt to justify their ludicrous actions or decisions.
Roston Chase’s appointment to captain West Indies and Jommel Warrican as vice captain simply defies logic and if I was awakened from my slumber in the wee hours one morning and told this, I would have exclaimed in a thunderous voice that the bearer of such nonsense was nothing but a fool.
I will not waste my time to release statistical facts which will emphasise the ridiculousness of these stupid appointments; it is not worth my time, but rather I will reiterate the call for the Government of Guyana to heed my advice from 2019 and withdraw this country from this disgraceful and disgusting comedy called West Indies cricket.
I had predicted then that things would get worse. I reissued the withdrawal call on three other occasions, and on each occasion, I predicted that it would have gotten worse. If this recent madness does not convince us that we are part of an embarrassment called West Indies cricket, then nothing else will. By virtue of continued association, we are equating ourselves with these lunatics.
West Indies cricket administrators are the most ungrateful bunch that ever exist in the world. They are consistently inconsistent, and they take pride in their lunacy, walking with chins to the parallel as though they are the best thing since sliced bread, while they enjoy whatever perks come with their position.
I rather suspect that the outrage of their comical appointment was so vociferous that they tried to soften its stupidity by naming two (2) separate teams for test matches against South Africa ‘A’. I have never heard that happening before, and how on earth can players benefit from that, only a scientist of no mean order can explain. Maybe only people of such ilk can explain why Joshua DaSilva, who is among the top three highest run scorers in the just concluded Regional tournament and captain of Trinidad and Tobago, who brought second, could not find a place in any of those teams.
This same gentleman who could not be faulted for his captaincy of the West Indies A for three (3) previous series now, despite fantastic performances, is pushed aside without any explanation and individuals who can best be described a glorified failures (Chase and Warrican), who were not even regulars in the test team, have been catapulted to leadership.
It is nothing but bad-mindedness, and these lunatics should be ashamed of themselves. Even Gypsy’s May Day call in his famous song “Captain the Ship is Sinking” cannot attract rescuers because West Indies cricket is beyond salvage with the only people stupid enough to attempt any rescue are the wreckers themselves. And I dare say that they will not sink with it. They will abandon it when it is relegated to second-tier status. And that is as sure as Christmas.
Yours truly,
Eric Whaul
