Kaieteur Sports- The National Cricket Selectors have appointed DCC’s Jonathan Van Lange captain for this year Regional under19 Tournament in St. Kitts. Van Lange appointment will continue a proud DCC Tradition of players from the house of Legends that had the distinct honour of leading Guyana at the Regional under19 level.
First to proudly wore the National Arm Band at the Regional under19 Level was Mark Harper, who was calling plays when Guyana contested the Regional Youth Championship in St. Kitts July 1977.
Mark’s brother and present DCC President, Roger Harper, was the man in charge at 1980 Milo sponsored Regional under19 Championship in Barbados.
Michael Howard continued the DCC show when Jamaica hosted the 1987 Northern Telecons Championship.
Troy Cornelius was Guyana’s skipper when the Land of the Majestic Kaieteur Falls hosted the 2001 Regional Youth Tournament.
Brian Sattaur led Guyana to the 2014 Regional under19 honours when the tournament was hosted in the Land of Many Waters.
Ashmead Nedd was the man calling plays for Guyana under19’s at the 2019 Regional Youth tournament in Jamaica.
It should be noted that the first time Guyana won the Regional under19 Championship in August 1968 the man at the Helm was the late DCC and Guyana scholar Keith Aaron but on that mission, he was representing Queen’s College. Will Van Lange emulate is predecessor and bring the Bacon home, only Time will tell.

(Kaieteur News) – The elections commission did not fall from heaven. It came from the messy compromises of men.
