Kaieteur News- Guyanese are steaming across social media platforms, expressing outrage over comments by Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo during his Thursday press conference, where he described citizens here as “stupid.”
Jagdeo, who is also the General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), was at the time addressing the sanctions imposed by the United States on businessman, Azruddin Mohamed and family. After turning his attention to the implications for persons who associate with the Mohameds, Jagdeo said, “And this country got some really stupid people, really who are pushing that line and then hanging on to something that the US Ambassador said, pointing out the different kinds of sanctions…”
A number of Guyanese have hit back at the VP for his disparaging remarks. See some comments made below by citizens in response to Jagdeo. (The names of these individuals have been withheld for obvious reasons.)
“I does sorry for the people of ego. It confirmed that no matter what you have, you will still feel empty.” “You right, is the stupid ones put you there.” “That is so true because you is leader and you is the biggest stupidest one, you sell out Guyana already so you in care.”
“I think he’s talking about his supporters.” “Yep, he’s telling us how he really feels, I wonder what his supporters think. The oil money they are stealing getting to Jagdeo head, he can insult every Guyanese now.”
“I think he is correct to a point cause that (is) what we voted for him to disrespect us daily, sell out our country, misrepresent us, and live lavishly while lots of citizens go hungry. We need to wake up, wise up and end the disrespect. Use the power in your index finger and tell this fool we no longer tolerating their bullsh*t. They don’t respect the citizens of Guyana. Such a shame and blatant disrespect, it can only continue if we allow it. Unity is power, let’s unite and take our country back and show the PPP Guyana don’t belongs to them.”
