Kaieteur Sports– The East Bank of Demerara/Ryan Dookie Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament continued with four thrilling encounters over the weekend, as Eccles, Uprising, Herstelling, and Demolition Cricket Club secured crucial wins on the road to the knockout stages.

At Laluni Ground on Saturday, Eccles Sports Club delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Diamond Sports Club by 69 runs in a rain-shortened match. Sent in to bat, Eccles posted a formidable 124-5 in just 10 overs. Navindra Persaud led the charge with a blistering 67, including eight fours and two towering sixes, while Nehemiah Honhenkirk contributed a solid 25.

In response, Diamond faltered under scoreboard pressure, managing only 55-7 from their 10 overs. Eccles’ bowlers stifled the batting line-up, with Reyaz Latif (2-8), Krsna Singh (2-9), and Lucian Sam (2-7) sharing the spoils in an impressive all-round team effort.

In the second match, Uprising Cricket Club edged past Silver Bullet Sport Club in a last-ball thriller. Silver Bullet batted first and were bowled out for 121 in 19.2 overs. Ridge Rajaram (29) and Ronaldo Blair (31) offered resistance, but Uprising’s Mohamed Baksh wreaked havoc with figures of 4-14, ably supported by Miguel Park (2-23).

Chasing 122 for victory, Uprising held their nerve in a tense finish. Anthony Hutson struck 26 with two boundaries, Triston Bynoe played a composed unbeaten knock of 19, and Michael Subadar’s vital 17 ensured a five-wicket win with one ball to spare, as they reached 125-5.

Sunday’s action featured another pair of intense clashes. Herstelling Cricket Club claimed a comfortable 27-run win over Patrewta Sawmill Cricket Club. Batting first, Herstelling posted 94 from their 10 overs. In reply, Patrewta Sawmill could only reach 67-5, failing to accelerate against disciplined bowling.

In the final match of the weekend, Demolition Cricket Club crushed Providence Cricket Club by a commanding 101 runs. Star batter Leon Swamy lit up the ground with a sensational unbeaten century, blasting 100* studded with 12 sixes and a solitary four. Joshua Ferrell added a brisk 33, powering Demolition to a mammoth 223-7.

Providence, overwhelmed by the target, ended their innings at 122-7. Ferrell also shone with the ball, claiming 2-17, while Nathaniel Ramkhelawan took 2-20 to seal the emphatic victory.
