Former President Granger corrects misinformation from Min. Manickchand

The Office of the Former President has taken note of an article in the Guyana Times newspaper published on 21st April 2025 under the headline: “Ed Minister slams failed Five Bs programme under APNU/AFC…says APNU/AFC robbed children of cash grant and squandered money.”
The article appeared to have quoted the remarks of the Education Minister at a recent meeting in Region No. 9 at which she claimed that the promises by the APNU+AFC administration did not materialise. She asked residents of Region No.9, rhetorically, if they have seen any boats, bicycles, buses or breakfasts from the former administration.
The Office of the Former President wishes to correct this untruth and points out that it is public knowledge that school buses were indeed distributed to every hinterland region as part of the Public Education Transportation Service (PETS). The former President Granger personally presented buses at Annai. Buses were also distributed to other hinterland regions. The former First Lady also assisted in distributing bicycles.
The Public Education Transportation Service was introduced by the former administration without the benefit of petroleum revenues to enable improve the attendance and performance of primary school children and not top win votes as a campaign stunt a few weeks before the general elections. The attached photographs disprove the Minister’s claims.
